Thanks for this Adroit Solutions Add-in for MS Access
2000 MDB files.

This utility allows you build all the tables for your database
by simply entering all the information in one form. Sample data
is provided for 2 tables, tblCustomer and tblOrders.

Most of the processes use ADOX, a rather simple-to-use ADO library.
I chose ADOX over DAO more for a learning experience than any concrete
reason.

I built this Add-In because I like to see the tables and their
columns all in one view to check for spelling and data types and
the like before I actually build them. I don't always have the time
to draw up a database diagram first so the Add-In helps me stay focused.
I hope you find it useful.

**********Installation**********
Requirements:
Windows 98 or later
MS Access 2000

To insure that it works properly,
(1)unzip it to your C: drive. If you don't, the registry key will
be wrong and a bunch of other won't work.
The file will be installed as
C:\Program Files\Adroit Solutions\DBBuilder.mda

NOTE: It is VERY IMPORTANT that the mda be located in this folder. Some of the
code had to specifically use ChDir() in order to locate the tables used in the mda.

(2)Open any databasse in Access and click on Tools/Add-ins/Add-in Manager.

(3)Click on Add New. Browse to the folder and file at
C:\Program Files\Adroit Solutions\DBBuilder.mda Click OK. This will copy
the MDA file to Microsoft's default Add-in folder for Access. Depending on
your operating system, there are a variety of places that might be.
With Windows ME, it's Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\Addins.
You have to do this only once. Even though there will be a copy of the DB Builder
in the MS Addins folder, the working file will be the one in the Adroit Solutions
folder.

Please Note: If this is an upgrade, be sure to replace the existing version
in the MS Add-in folder with the new version or uninstall the add-in using
the Access Add-in Manager. Then delete the file from the Add-in folder and
re-install the new version using step (3) above.

**********Instructions**********
To use the DB Builder add-in for any database, click Tools/
Add-ins/DB Builder.

The DB Builder will open. The main form can be set up to show Jet (Access)
Data Types or ANSI SQL Data Types by clicking the appropriate option button
at the top of the form.

You will see sample data already in the form. To test the Add-In, click the
"Select Tables to Build" button.

To start fresh, click the "Clear Table Data" button and enter your own data.

Each column in a table is represented by one row. Fill in the TableName, ColName,
DataType. The ColSize field is needed only for text or varchar data types.

Check or uncheck the Required and IsPK fields as needed. If the column is a foreign
key to another table, fill in the table name and column name of the primary table.

The second row's TableName can be filled in by just pressing Ctrl+'.
The TableName above will be copied into the field. As with all datasheets in Access,
pressing Ctrl+' will do the same thing in all the columns.

If a table has a foreign key to another table, be sure the CreateOrder is higher than
the primary table as the primary table must exist before a foreign key can be made and tables
are created starting with the lowest CreateDate.

In the sample data, the tblOrders table has CustID as a foreign key to tblCustomer so it must
have a CreateOrder number higher than tblCustomer.

Once all the table data is filled in, click "Select Tables to Build". This will
open a form that lets you choose the tables to build. This feature was put in so
if you decide to rework a table or two you will not have to delete all the tables
from the database and then start from scratch.

Select all tables or choose the ones you want by holding down the Ctrl key and clicking
each table. Click "Build Tables" to run the process.

You can use the Summary Report to print a list of tables and their columns even if you
did not use the DB Builder to create them.

**********History**********
Version 1.0 First version released.
Known bugs: The Data Type List Options on the main form don't always update the
table fields. I don't know why. If you click in the data type field and then click
the options they should work the way they are supposed to. I hope to
fix this bug in the next version.

DB Builder is Freeware and may be distributed as is. It may
not be sold. By using it, you take full responsability.

It was created as an open source code utility so you could see the processes behind the forms
and report. Open Source also allows you to make any additions/changes you want.
